Norwegian Ambassador to Kenya Pays a Courtesy Call to the Principal Secretary

Norwegian Ambassador to Kenya, H.E. Siv Cathrine Moe, accompanied by Marta Gjørtz, Counsellor for Regional Commercial Affairs, and Nina Hal Schjelderup, Counsellor for Blue Economy and Commercial Affairs, paid a courtesy call on the Principal Secretary, State Department for Shipping and Maritime Affairs, Mr Aden Abdi Millah, for discussions on Kenya-Norway maritime cooperation.

The meeting reviewed the outcomes of the engagement between H.E. President William Ruto and the Norwegian Shipowners’ Association in June 2026, with discussions focusing on progress made on commitments relating to maritime security and global trade, Blue Economy investment opportunities, seafarer development and employment, maritime decarbonization and green shipping.

The Principal Secretary reaffirmed Kenya’s participation in the upcoming 15TH   Nordic-African Business Summit organized by Norwegian-African Business Association (NABA) in Oslo, Norway, scheduled for October 2026. The forum will provide an opportunity for Kenya to showcase its maritime sector and advance partnerships in areas including maritime training, maritime trade and investment, maritime decarbonization and green shipping.

The engagement underscores the commitment of Kenya and Norway to strengthening maritime cooperation and leveraging the sector to create employment opportunities, attract investment and advance a sustainable and resilient maritime industry.
