PS Millah Holds a Strategic Meeting with Kenya National Shipping Line Management
The Principal Secretary, State Department for Shipping and Maritime Affairs, Mr. Aden A. Millah, presided over a strategic consultative meeting with the management of the Kenya National Shipping Line (KNSL), led by acting Managing Director Mrs. Fauzia Suleiman, at the Company’s offices in Mombasa.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the KNSL management to brief the Principal Secretary on the Company’s current business prospects, operational performance, emerging challenges and the strategic government interventions required to unlock its full potential as Kenya’s national carrier.
Discussions focused on strengthening KNSL’s competitiveness, expanding its participation in regional and international shipping markets, enhancing operational efficiency, and exploring strategic partnerships and investment opportunities that can contribute to the growth and sustainability of the national shipping line.
The Principal Secretary underscored the importance of positioning KNSL as a strong, competitive and resilient national carrier capable of increasing Kenya’s participation in international maritime trade and retaining a greater share of the value generated along the maritime supply chain.
He noted that a vibrant national shipping line is critical to supporting Kenya’s import and export trade, creating opportunities for Kenyan seafarers and maritime professionals, strengthening maritime services and contributing to the broader development of the Blue Economy.
PS Millah reaffirmed the State Department’s commitment to working closely with KNSL to address operational and structural challenges while providing the necessary policy and institutional support to enhance the KNSL’s competitiveness and commercial sustainability.
