PS Geoffrey Kaituko attends the Launch of the Inter-Departmental Committee on the National Skills Inventory

Today, PS Geoffrey Kaituko attended the launch of the first Inter-Departmental Committee on the National Skills Inventory chaired by CS for Labour and Social Protection Ms. Florence Bore.

The Committee which was as a result of a Presidential directive is set to be chaired by Principal Secretary, State Department for Labour and Skills Development, Mr. Shadrack Mwadime and is tasked with the mandate of establishing a framework for mapping out the skills of all Kenyans seeking employment, both as a short-term measure to address the present challenges as well as medium-term to long-term goals of structuring training contents with the demands of the labour market.

The committee is  also tasked with mapping out the skills in the Country,  identifying the gaps in the most competitive and highly employable skills both within the country and abroad, and; making recommendations on the alignment of training programmes to spur the development of skills that offer greater chances of employability locally and abroad.

This is in line with the key objective of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) to pursuit of economic empowerment through jobs creation and it shall be made possible with a clear mapping of skills among the unemployed Kenyan population.

Job seekers can post their credentials on the National Employment Authority website, a platform where employers also post job vacancies where interested candidates can apply.
