PS GEOFFREY KAITUKO meets Higher Education Loans Board(HELB) to streamline implementation of Maritime Education and Training (MET) loan fund pf 50 million

Principal Secretary Shipping and Maritime Affairs Geoffrey Kaituko convened and chaired a ROUND TABLE meeting between the Kenya Maritime Authority(KMA), the Higher Education Loans Board(HELB) and Bandari Maritime Academy (BMA) to unlock the impasse over the implementation of Maritime Education and Training Scheme(METS). Since its inception in 2020, this scheme has provided  funding for students pursuing MET courses in BMA and other MET institutions. The team agreed to revitalise the governance structures which oversaw the process of implementation of this scheme. They also resolved outstanding issues which had affected the smooth functioning of the scheme .
